CITY/OSU EAST REINVESTMENT

The City of Columbus and OSU Hospital East announce in March 2010 their plan to invest $10,000,000 within the following boundaries which includes Woodland Park: Woodland Avenue on the east; Broad Street on the south; Leonard Avenue on the north and 22nd street on the west.

At the press conference held on November 9th, OSU East CEO Elizabeth Seely, Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Charles Hillman/CEO Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and various hospital officials informed the audience of the hospital’s progress to date and some plans for the future.

Highlighted as one of their progressive steps was the purchase of the VA Hospital at Taylor and Leonard which will open as Care Pointe East, July 2011 and operate as a multidisciplinary health center.

One of their future plans includes housing renovation in the neighborhood.

Woodland Park Neighborhood Association presented a document to OSU East, April 2010, containing recommendations of improvements we would like to see as part of the reinvestment.  Housing renovation for home ownership is one of our major recommendations.

Following the updates, the hospital introduced members who agreed to serve on the Neighborhood Advisory Committee.

This Committee will participate in the planning of projects for the neighborhood.

Attorney Fred Ransier Chairs the Committee.  Tim Anderson and Lela Boykin, Woodland Park residents, are members of the Committee.

More news on the Committee after we have had our first meeting.
